Yesterday I was lucky enough to spend some time in Savannah with my very good friend, HBM.
It's so fun to show a visitor different aspects of a city that one is still learning. The fact is, there are so many aspects to Savannah I don't think I would learn all of it in a lifetime. It's always changing, and some new character or shop is poking out of the carved and gilded woodwork.
The finale of our lovely day was spent at Alex Raskin Antiques. Alex has collected a truly awe inspiring collection of pieces. And he's willing to bargain. Like all antique dealers he probably wants to be sure the piece goes to an appreciative owner. Alex's store is an education. I highly recommend a visit.
Alex Raskin Antiques, 441 Bull Street located one block from the famous fountain at Forsythe Park. The store is four floors of a Grey Gardens-esque mansion in all of its glory, filled with exquisite pieces from all over the glove. Check out some of my favorites below.

Gorgeous chandelier on the Salon level - note the incredible flaking paint on the ceiling. I love this kind of wear and patina as it only comes with age and use and love. |

True Victorian Peacock wicker. This is even a step down from some of the pieces Alex has in his arsenal of antiques. |

Incredible carved chair. See next photo for detail. |

This is just the end of the arm...it's truly inspiring the pieces that are for sale. It's like a museum with price tags. |

More excellent Peacock Wicker. |

The facade of the gorgeous location at 441 Bull Street, entry on the side, ground floor. You will see it' it's like a beehive of visitors. |
